But that one was too obvious - there’s a big difference between a gate on an individual’s property versus an entire neighborhood telling all us Poors that “you’re not Our Sort.”
The late Carl Perkins, of all people, put my feelings into words, saying he’d never wanted a mansion on the hill with the iron gate, because “that gate keeps your fans out, but it also keeps you in. My life’s been lived open.” 😎
