UNRWA has lost over 10 times the number of staff accused of thought crimes (which I don't believe was anywhere near the problem Israel and our governments is claiming it to be). They've lost 148 colleagues as of January 24 so I'm sure it's over 150 now. Many of their family members were killed as well. UNRWA is so important and I want to know what this decision means as far as donations from citizens of the countries pulling this nightmare gaslighting and character assassination in the middle of actual targeted assassinations of a UN agency's employees by Israel. Will my money be allowed to get to them? It's bad enough they have been allowing Israel to starve and murder civilians at UNRWA facilities and destroy those facilities and kill the staff consisting of medical workers, teachers, therapists, engineers etc. I knew they would defy the ICJ regardless but I will never forgive them for this further outright inhumanity.

Thank you again for doing the hard work of writing about this nightmare so eloquently. I have been following news reports that make no sense to me-- your writing always gives hope that there is some attention being paid and I'm not losing a grip on the obvious. Headline blips just indicate that governments are falling in line lock-step to justify cutting off relief funding in the middle of a genocide. I needed to read this thoughtful essay to justify my own reaction, that citing unsubstantiated reports from the perpetuator is unfathomable cruelty.
