Can't recommend more highly the new Bonhoeffer film even despite its glaring deficienies (where and how he died). Gets the tone and mood of Nazi Germany in the decade before its invasion of Poland spot on. "There is more to fear from stupidity than evil."
The Democratic Party isn't a party of education - we see so much media making a spectacle out of this cabinet (either for or against) but never organizations to join, groups to support, or resorces/funds to donate to (besides the news source itself).
I've always wondered why this is. Why won't the progressive big media leverage its power to move beyond just electoralism? Why is the question always "should we become more reactionary" and not "should we make people more progressive"? I still don't get it :(
Thanks for this. Super important! Clearly explains how we can move from spontaneous protests on different topics toward a unified movement. There’s plenty to do; a place for everyone.
I wonder about adding “inside” strategies like pushing the Democratic Party to adopt economic populism as its main electoral focus. Or sneaky, under-the-radar stuff like helping government professionals oppose the destructive changes being planned to their agencies. I’m sure there are many more strategies and tactics outside the usual social change/movement building that we should be planning for.
I really loved what you wrote about the fascists holding onto the past versus the left looking towards the future!!
also the e-book of the Let This Radicalize You workbook is free right now from the publisher!!!! https://www.haymarketbooks.org/books/1922-let-this-radicalize-you
Wow, so glad you’re sharing this resource. Thank you!!
How about saying "we should all be in the streets" this time we say "we should all be in a labor union."
Thanks for the resources.
Over the Long Haul
Sometimes it seems so futile
Sometimes it seems unfair
Sometimes a hard won victory
Later vanishes in the air
Sometimes that slender of hope
Is just too small to see
Sometimes our trials and troubles
Seem greater than you and me
Chorus
It will take many strong arms to move those mountains
It will take faith to lift us when we fall
It will take all the love our hearts can pull together
To sustain us over the long haul
Sometimes we start backsliding
Sometimes we lose our way
Sometimes we lack the fortitude
To plant our flag and stay
But we can recall our courage
And define our destiny
Our faith can raise a fortress
Greater than you and me
Chorus
We have to stand together
Or we'll surely fall apart
It's said the strongest muscle
Is the one we call the heart
We cannot call on progress
To bring equality
But the dream that calls us onward
Is greater than you and me
Chorus
It will take many strong arms to move those mountains
It will take faith to lift us when we fall
It will take all the love our hearts can pull together
To sustain us over the long haul

Fascism happens like bankruptcy: at first, bit by bit and then, all at once.
