Thank you so much for this article! It is stunning to see the increase in fascism in even state and local governments, not limited to just Republicans. Terrifying in so many ways for the future of Democracy.
The false premise there is that the USA's sham democracy was ever anything but a thin, transparent veneer over plutocracy. AIUI e.g. via Zinn, the USA was a "perfect plutocracy" as soon as prior to 1800.
You I must say, despite everyday gloom & doom & a system(systems everywhere) that doesn't stop putting it's boot on our(humans everywhere) throats, you manage to keep in focus the actions that must be taken to rise above all of this systemic misery & provide hope where there is little!!! (This is the definition and the obligation of a true leader)
Thank you for what you do, and sharing your perspective that quite often lifts my vibe up 🫶✊
So I guess I’m wondering when it’s time to move away from just protesting. There’s been numerous protests around the country, with hundreds of thousands of people calling for a ceasefire. Our representatives say their phones and emails won’t stop ringing with ceasefire. And still, they do nothing. They don’t listen to us. So what’s the next step? Protesting only works when they people in power have a conscience, if they have empathy. No one in our government does
You know it's gonna be a good read when it quotes Aimé Césaire. This has to be my favorite:
> to reveal to the very distinguished, very humanistic, very Christian bourgeois of the twentieth century that without his being aware of it, he has a Hitler inside him, that Hitler inhabits him, that Hitler is his demon [...]
It's a short read, definitely recommend everyone read it!
Fascism Comes Home to Roost

This is what we must do.
The abuse of language by those in power (UK and US), turning Peace into Hate, Pacifism into Terrorism, is so reminiscent of 1984.

Shameful, criminal, and deeply upsetting behavior by our so called leaders. Meanwhile prospects for 2024 were already grim, and now...?!

Was the title of this one inspired by Malcolm X?
