There has been an intentional consistent dehumanization campaign against liberals. It is becoming very very dangerous. Saying that the thousands of protesters are paid agitators, or whatever else they have spewed is setting the tone for a violent response and who cares about the rights of those liberals.
It appalling, albeit expected, how the liberal corporate media talk about Kirk as if he was a legitimate political figure, rather than a rabid fascist extremist.
The Democrats and the centre-right media have laid the groundwork for fascism, and continue to enable it by failing to call it what it is and offering mild, superficial critiques that only serve to make it seem like a legitimate different viewpoint.
Although I don't follow The Young Turks as much as I once did, I share the sentiments of Cenk Uygur in this short clip where he has just learned Kirk died from the gunshot wound to his neck: https://www.youtube.com/shorts/RMrZQ-p-gco
I believe in regards to mass murder and an ongoing genocide, it is appropriate to use violent means against the perpetrators to stop the slaughter. But the targeted assassination of a political pundit, whether from the Left or Right, speaking peacefully toward a crowd, is an outright act of murder and there is no reasonable justification for it. And it can easily lead to more unreasonable violence and the further extinguishment of any free speech in the US or abroad.
The murder of a political figure could be the time to address the level of political polarization that reduces individuals to their worst political views, or even perceived political views, to the point that their deaths can be celebrated by some or deemed to be their own fault. When someone's death is seen as happening because they were 'a Liberal' or a 'Fascist' this is reductionist. And a call to arms perpetuates the polarization. It's the polarization that needs to stop first before anything can improve. Talk to your conservative neighbours. Stop labelling people with different views and try finding out one to one what they think and why. The answers may help change things.
i am saddened to admit it but i was, not happy, but relieved to hear of the death of this human culture and planet destroying fascist. as a voting senior citizen in the USA, the current murderous and criminal federal administration is not just a global embarrassment, but a threat to all living bio regions throughout this living breathing planet. She, Earth, happens to include humans as one of the key species during this era, but is no longer capable of mitigating our ever increasing acts of Gaiacide, ecological destruction. the fascist leaders of the politics of warring, blaming, and destroying needs to be stopped before we reach the point of no return, civilization collapse.
this may sound extreme to some of you, but that is exactly what we are witnessing and contributing to with our wasteful life styles, selfish choices and denial. wake up and build a regenerative Earth life, community and region.... find your partners of respect and love for this beautiful and Sacred blue pearl of life, and serve the living world, where you are, your community of place. Reindigenize to the place that provides for you........ build a life/ community that in 7 human generations will continue to thrive a simple abundance reality for all species/ members...... that is joyful, peaceful, free and safe for all. if where you are this is impossible to even imagine....... then move to where you can contribute to building that reality. your feet are not nailed to the Earth where you are. our ancestors have been migrating for family/community security and sustenance for millions of years.... from our earliest hominid kin to the immigrating kin that moved to where you are now, for a better life for you...... human culture evolves or dies........ maybe to return, maybe not.
if we are all killing each other over the ever decreasing planetary gifts and bountiful living resources available due to our own greed and excess...... well, i would sure rather be near people and Place that who are committed to mutual aid and reciprocity..... building partnerships and resilient regenerative practices that supply for simple abundance for all life.
voluntary and cooperative simplicity, modesty and care.......
if you are interested in how to find partners to build a regenerative Earth..... check out the Design School for REgenerative Earth on the mighty network..... joe and penny are offering thousands of webinars, both on demand and live globally interactive how to build a regenerative Earth bio region where you are....... for $5 a mo...... there are scholarships available, if that is better for your personal circumstances.
well if you are still reading this, i appreciate your curiosity....... may we all come together and build a world of equity, happiness and cultural/ ecological regeneration..... this is the prayer that lives in my heart...... holding out for a global human awakening to unavoidable laws of nature..... not natural law, which is anthropocentric, but the the laws of nature; what realities need to exist for nature to continue thriving, in a good way????
There's a double standard at work here where Charlie Kirk is held responsible for the consequences of policies he advocated for, while those one the left are not. To use a topical example, the stabbing of Iryna is a failure of the justice system to protect the public from individuals with dangerous forms of mental illness. This is a consequence of legal doctrines that hold such folks to a lower standard of behavior and policies like "no cash bail".
Are these kinds of incidents "worth it" as a price of these policies? It seems like democratic lawmakers believe that's the case, but I don't see similar pushback that I see to Charlie Kirk's thoughts on gun control from (what I used to consider) my side of the aisle.
So feel free to mount your high horse and ride off into the sunset believing you have a monopoly on morality. But the main person you're fooling is yourself.
I may be somewhat contrarian here, but the genesis of this moment was born in cancel culture. It is now that the power of cancel culture has shifted. Karl Popper's words on the paradox of intolerance ring ever true, except now the power to decide who is intolerant has shifted into the hands of those who are truly, deeply, irredeemably intolerant and there is no policing themselves, when the tolerant can no longer beat down those with hate in their hearts for the Other.
This is the most disingenuous post I have read yet after the death of CK, and worse, you present the stuff you said about him as a matter of fact. This post is part of the problem for why a large portion of people who accept leftist ideas are disdained by conservatives. You completely failed to represent or steal-man his positions. I don't agree with everything he said, but I certainly don't think you added any substance to the discussion, and worse, articles like this are part of the problem and not the solution.
First, you misrepresent Charlie's statements regarding black women. The link you sent where you accuse Charlie of characterizing black women as a monolith as not having the "brain processing power to be taken seriously" isn't the actual quote he gave. He was addressing specific individuals like Joy Reid, Michelle Obama, and others, but he wasn't generalizing the statement to include all black women like you espouse. There is no evidence that he views all black women as being cognitively inferior like you imply.
Second, CK never advocated that gay people should be stoned. The only thing loosely close to that idea would be when in June of 2024 he mentioned Leviticus' law where it mentions stoning homosexuals. However, notice that CK wasn't saying that he wanted gays to be stoned: he responded to Ms. Rachel, who was selectively appealing biblical verses in Leviticus in defense of LGBT when any consistent reading of the book wouldn't support such a reading.
Third, you never supplied proof that CK promoted violence against oppressed people. Instead you make a baseless accusation without evidence, so it can be dismissed without evidence.
Fourth, you fail to define what fascism means and you flail the term on CK without defining what you mean by it. I have yet to hear a definition that doesn't also indict leftist political figures. Calling CK a "fascist" perpetuates the cycle of political violence because you are equating people you dislike as being the equivalent to real fascists like Hitler which is an insincere and disgusting thing to do.
Fifth, you fail to identify the nuance of the position CK took on the 2nd Amendment. If you were consistent, you would say this quote "I think it's worth it to accept the unfortunate cost of some harmful or offensive speech every single year so that we can preserve the First Amendment and protect our God-given right to freedom of expression" is also wrong. But anyone who is pragmatic (I would hope) wouldn't object to that statement.
I could say more but this article is just asinine and hypocritical. Please read the sources carefully and actually represent his comments based on their merits rather than what you heard people say about CK.
I wouldnβt be surprised to find out he was taken out on purpose by the right before he could turn his rhetoric against Trump and Israel and become a thorn in THEIR side. Kirk needs to be recognized for the vile beliefs he spewed all over college campuses, while at the same time acknowledging that no one should be killed for practicing their right to free speech. However, it must be noted that the political atmosphere in our country is currently so fraught that such hard right (or hard left, frankly) views are increasingly likely to be met with derision and even violence.

Look at Elon Musks comments. Democrats are murderers? Its intentional
Kirk was a long tall drink of Hitler.
Insurrectionist, fascist, and hater deserved a lifetime of repentance not murder. Thoughts and prayers to Kirk family.
Dying didnβt make him a saint.
No... Divided Mind caused it. Outsiders caused it. Echo Chambers caused it.. Inner Chaos caused it. Those that wish to rule your mind caused it.
