Thank you for this. It’s perhaps the most hopeful essay I’ve read on here in a while.

Good to see someone intelligent not attempting to push people back into the corrupt Democratic party, as a way out of this mess we are in right now.

It's unfortunate we STILL have people - some of them prominent mouthpieces, making the lesser of two evils argument. As if what got us into where we're at now will get us out of it. That if we trust Bernie Sanders or AOC yet again (and I'm talking to you Kyle Kulinski) then we'll be better off.

No we won't. The Lesser of Two Evils is a dead end road. The Lesser of Two Evils is how we ended up with Donald Trump, how we ended up normalizing a genocide under Joe Biden. And if Americans haven't learned that lesson yet, then we really are a doomed country.

I was thinking the same thing!

One feeder that I haven’t seen talked about is the fact that Americans are busier than any other country I know of. As a psychotherapist, when I’m working with ppl to overcome their depression and horror at what is happening, and I ask them how they might get involved in activism or creating alternatives, many ppl respond that they’re overworked, underpaid, and exhausted. This is especially true for young parents - childcare is expensive and not subsidized.

I wonder if this is part of why so many Americans who haven’t propagandized themselves into a patriotic stupor with Fox News — who get how horrible this all is - are still not getting involved? Because we don’t have time?

One thing that people will hopefully be considering during this time where doing something is becoming more and more mandatory is the non-violent civil disobedience of war tax resistance. Our money is the food of the monster, and we have the ability not to pay our federal income taxes, not to feed the monster. Lots of information at nwtrcc.org for your consideration in making this monumental decision not to pay “Keep on demonstrating and protesting, but just Keep on paying those taxes!!“

We need to have the courage to dream big. We need to do this on a local scale while also pushing for it via the state and eventually federal. Imagine clean, safe nuclear power (including nuclear cargo ships). Orbital solar platforms that beam microwave energy to planetside distribution centers that use gravity batteries for storage (yes, we have all of that technology right now).

Imagine government land trusts that help communities purchase their housing in an affordable manner (we used to do this). Imagine homesteads providing clean organic food instead of the chemical slop that Big Agg forces on us. Imagine none of your neighbors being in fear for their very life because of their personal identity. Children able to go to school without fear of nightmarish violence and death.

We could have all of this and so much more, but only if we join together and take back power from the hands of Greed.

Thank you. I listened to this twice and am going to share it elsewhere.

I’ve begun to see that if you can consider this moment in history to be an opportunity, then you “get it.”

Cooperation is the key word here. Capitalism and the celebration of disconnection from others and from knowledge and wisdom have helped to create this hellscape that these maladjusted “leaders” want us to shut up and accept.

Now I’m looking for a group that will help us build something new and healthier for all of us. I’m in NY state (not NYC). I will check out the links but if anyone out there knows of a group(s) in NY state, please share.

Thanks for making this a happier, more hopeful Easter!

I feel like there is a benefit to me on a overall wellness level in engaging in these types of discussions with people who also have reached an understanding (whether recent or not as much) about how much energy this sick society forces us to expend to lie to ourselves constantly that "everything is fine". The cognitive dissonance involved in the collective denial of objective truths takes a toll on everyone. I'm not sure that I trust that enough Americans have finally been able to choose to see with their own eyes and use their own senses to realize the current path of the country leads only to misery.
