I read you can now get a used Tesla for $13,000. That’s the lowest price ever for a Tesla. Ofc the battery prolly is at end of life & mileage is high. But you can appease dear leaders with your purchase. Don’t forget that Tesla can take control via software any of their cars. I’m not a conspiracy theorist (or am I?) but Mitch McMconnel’s sis-in-law drowning in a pond in Texas that time? Yeahhhhh. I will not ride in Elon’s cars. I will not ride with Elon to Mars.
All that you say how the FVCK the president selling cars in the yard of the White House like white trash?
Disgusting and yet completely expected from this regime. I strongly suspect the global blowback from this naked display of favoritism will do even more damage to the brand than any incremental sales to the maga cultists would have helped. There are plenty of EV alternatives these days.
Remember how protesting and boycotting companies that fund Israel is also 'illegal', but there's not really a way to enforce it without forcing us to buy from those companies.
I'm signed up as a secret shopper, and last week was offered the chance to test drive a Tesla for $40. I said no, only because I don't trust myself to not turn myself into a meme and have legal problems. It's the only secret shopping assignment I've been sent multiple emails about, BTW. Seems they can't even pay people $40 to sit in them.
This is like when a kid gets made fun of at school so his mom shows up at the school to yell at the bullies. It's really only going to make the kid look even less cool and in the long term it'll make him more of a target! I love that these people are so socially/emotionally underdeveloped that they think having mommy show up and say "be nice to my little Elon!" will bolster consumer confidence in Tesla. The only thing it'll do is strengthen the resistance! Morons.
I applaud the movement against Tesla, but without a mass pivot towards public support for a General Strike we will not change the fundamental power structures that made these spectacular levels of corruption possible. The boycott must be a first step towards prosecuting the oligarchs and the foundation of a people’s government. Without this revolutionary perspective we will be trapped in a cycle of corruption until the Fascists burn what’s left of our democracy to the ground.
As an extension of the Tesla Take Down, I highly recommend this article by Kea Wilson. Mercedes-Benz and Audi's predecessors were darlings of the Nazi regime and created automobiles that extended the mission of Fascism into a collective consciousness. Musks' idiotic rebranding of automobiles, rightly leveraged in our fight against this regime, should be just the tip of the ice berg when it comes to fighting automobility writ large. The harm that car dependence has had on us is unconscionable; don't think that the efforts of Trump's transportation secretary to end equitable planning and street design (including bike lanes!!) isn't part of the overarching goal to control us, surveil us, and siphon money and time from us. Yes, kill the Cybertruck and the Tesla brand; yes, too, challenge motonormativity writ large so that Americans don't need to own cars simply to participate in our toxically privatized world. https://usa.streetsblog.org/2025/03/13/what-if-the-tesla-takedown-is-only-the-beginning
Here’s my unrequested opinion on the article- and I apologise for being direct : I think this is simply another useless frontal attack directed towards Musk/Trump.
Don’t get me wrong; I love any kind of hate directed towards those two failures. I feed off of that these days. But let’s be realistic, those articles are simply not pushing the needle. They comfort the anti-Trump in their opinions and prove again to the MAGAs (or whatever you like to call them, I’m not from the US) that all you have to offer for these two lunatics are hate and criticism.
You are fighting an uphill battle led in the era of « post-truth » where people believe in what suits them, not in what is true - hence why the purpose of these articles is questionable.
There won’t be a scenario where it will convince the right wing people that they’re wrong and should revise their position. It won’t be considered as an important piece of archive X years from now because as it will be flooded in a sea of anti-Trump articles. At best, it informs of on what’s happening at the moment, but again, there’s so much going on that I question whether it’s worth the effort. Maybe that’s your intent, I don’t know.
If the goal of these articles is to show the world that the current gvnmt should die (and I hope that’s the case) I wonder where argumentative tricks like Socratic reasoning, mirroring, empathy for the opponent, etc are. Right from the first sentence people will either stop reading because it doesn’t work out for them, or convince them in a opinion that was already existing.
From where I stand your duty as a thinker/journalist is not fulfilled. You have a skill set that the rest of us does not have, I wish it was employed in a better way.

OMG you are right it is EXACTLY the 'used car salesman' behaviour

OMG what even is an "illegal boycott"?! It implies we are what, legally required to buy his stuff? Prohibited from telling our friends not to buy it?
I know I should not expect anything they say to make sense but.

And Musk just gave $100m to The Thugs PAC. Expensive advertising.
Have always seen Krasnov as a used car salesman.

If you want a great analysis of the role of the state in capitalist society read Lenin's "State and Revolution".
