Unsurprisingly, all the torture countries were trained by our military at the School of the Americas (now known as the Western Hemisphere Institute for Security Cooperation). Their supermax prisons are modeled after ours. A few years ago when those photos came out of El Salvadorian prisoners stacked on top of each other they learned that from the US. Almost all roots of fascism can be traced back to the US.

This is the next holocaust in the making after the Jewish holocaust and the ongoing Palestinian holocaust. God help us all as we must escalate the resistance to this.

Don’t call it a holocaust. It has nothing to do with the Jews.

That's funny, they're currently resisting a genocide that the international court of justice as put arrest warrants out on the people organizing it and the UN has condemned the country that is doing it.

So... whose the terrorist?

Good. So do I, and they're not a terrorist group. You don't know what that word means.

This is not speculative fiction. It’s not theoretical. The President of the United States is openly conspiring with a foreign dictator to build a global gulag for dissidents and laughing about it. "Home-growns are next" is not a gaffe; it's a promise.

We are watching the repatriation of fascism in real time: mass imprisonment, state-sanctioned abductions, denial of legal process, and the redefinition of citizenship as conditional loyalty. The border has always been a weapon, but now it's a trapdoor. Once you fall through, there's no coming back, not even a whisper through a lawyer or light in your cell.

This is the part where we stop pretending that laws will save us or that elections are the antidote. Fascism isn’t on the march; it’s building mega-prisons. If your resistance doesn’t scare the architects of this horror, it’s not resistance.

To those saying 'what must we do?': resistance is to be a collaborative effort. Why are you waiting for orders? Offer a suggestion of what you think it could mean. You know your own communities and community members best. If you don't, make that step one. Figure out WHO is first at risk where you live. Figure out a way to help those people. Find out who is helping them already. Reach out to organizers.

The owning classes essentially living in a free-flowing, borderless world, while the rest of us are subjected to restriction and confinement is such a good dot to connect here. "Migration is natural, moral, and ancient." WHY is this baby-brained basic historical concept so difficult for the petulant self-centered "west" to grasp (propaganda and racism I know)? And fascist states simply criminalizing whoever they want with the legitimacy of "the law" and force of the state is EVERYTHING. Blows my mind how there are people so blinded by hatred and bloodlust that they think anyone should ever be denied due process.

Migration means entering g a country legally! These people invaded our country which is an act of war!!!

Re: "homegrowns" being marked for removal: they certainly can't remove the 5 million of us who shown up at protests, but perhaps just enough to scare the rest of us into compliance.

Our only hope I believe is a sustained general strike, and I fear many Americans don't have the sense and courage, to follow through.

"Migration is natural, moral, and ancient."

This is such an important point, and also applies to the more-than-human world. It really can't be overemphasized. Climate change be increasing migration, so this issue isn't going away.

As a native-born American who is currently unable to enter the USA upon threat of illegal arrest by these fascists, this is 100% real, people. I personally experienced how he started this repression during his first term and how Biden continued it, and now he is cementing it in place.

We must defend our freedom over our beliefs, our bodies and our lives. We must not back down.

This shows the US Constitution to be a gentleman’s agreement, one that no one broke for 235 years. With the Confederacy they just up and left, what we have today is even worse.

This was tough read but a much needed read one to shake open my eyes to true weight of the world right now. It is very easy to fall into disarray and overwhelm at this time because it’s like all my years of experience jumped straight out the window with my fears just a while ago but if there is anything I learned from watching MLK jr. is that the deaths of those who have died will not be made in vain but will be the fuel that keeps the movement going to remind ourselves just how serious this fight back against fascism is and it is going to be an uphill battle but if we don’t begin to pick up the pieces somewhere we will truly be too late. So thank you for this raw piece of honestly in these early hours

Absolutely. And as Snyder said (about why we all have to stand up for due process for everyone): "It is due process, and due process alone, that allows you to demonstrate that you are a citizen. Without it, the masked men in the black vans can simply claim that you are a foreign terrorist and disappear you."

Indeee, the current administration has also already spoken about finding ways to make natural-born citizens(citizens by birth with parents who are citizens by birth) illegal as well.

They care nothing about legality or due process and are only restraining themselves at the moment due to fear of backlash. As soon as they feel in control and confident enougb they'll just arrest and detain or deport anyone they deem 'problematic'.

Something something first they came for the communist quote.

What's crazy to me is that people know about what happened to citizens of Japanese descent in the US and Canada, and still thinking 'that won't happen here.' It DID happen here.

Hide your neighbors from ICE.

Stockpile supplies like canned goods, toothpaste, and medical supplies.

Pick those you can trust in your communities and create signal group chats with new basic phones that are only for that purpose.

Plan out scenarios where you'll have to actually resist and defy armed individuals claiming the authority to deport people who don't looke like the white kind of right for a country built on immigration.

What we need is specifics. Actual calls to action that ordinary people can rise to. I agree that we “need” all of this but it’s all so abstract.
