Welp so much for the roaring 20s.

Watching this from Europe feels so frightening. It’s like watching an old friend kill himself.

I hope you guys get through this.

We’re all rooting for you over here.

Fascism is capitalism in decay. It's capitalism operating masks off. We call fascism racism when it only affects POC. We call it fascism when it affects white people too.

I’m really glad you added the ways to fight back, as I kept thinking as I was reading “yes I agree but what can I DO!?” The evil ones are counting on this blitzkrieg to overwhelm us, and with the media’s help it’s almost working. But we have media tools as well, like your feed. Let’s amplify as much as possible. Thanks for your thoughts.

A great and true and completely relevant post, Joshua.

I shudder to think of the violence that will be unleashed when those who supported Trump realize the extent of his betrayal:

"Trump talked a big game about changing these trends. He said he’d bring manufacturing back to the United States, and he’s doing nothing to make that happen. He and his party talked about becoming the party of the working class, but are stealing more from us than ever before. Instead of these sham talking points our economy continues to be more and more top-heavy, more and more skewed towards the .1%, with success and stability increasingly out of reach for everyone else. The rot continues, the decline is accelerated, the empire sinks into the muck."

In the meantime, we have to build community, grow food and create contingency plans.

Take good care.

It’s my belief that despite the warnings from the left (not the liberals or centrists or libertarians), the majority of the liberal Dem voters have become desensitized to this uprising of fascism by the trump admin and think waving signs during a peaceful protest has any meaning to the current govt or our Dem party as a whole. It’s clear the Dems have zero interest in intentional pushback and are no longer serving our interests. The question is, who amongst us will revolt and what will that look like for the shrinking working middle class who struggle to keep their heads above water on a day to day basis. Will we sit by complacent to the destruction of America as we know it (as our feckless leaders do) or will we meaningfully fight back? The next 3.5 years will surely be the end of democracy as we know it if WE do nothing.

"I will build my own system and not be enslaved by another man's" (William Blake) is the mission of my Substack "The Little Feline". Interestingly, Zarah Sultana MP, who is co-leader of the new socialist party arising in the UK, quoted that Rosa Luxemburg quote the other day.

JJ thank you for your eloquence and fire. And especially for the list of resources/organizations. Maybe you should make that a permanent feature.

“It means setting individualism aside and joining this battle.” A simple sentence, but this gets to the heart of it. A radical competitive individualism has pierced to the core of life on the ground. It is at the core of neoliberal ideology. It is the siren’s song that lulls the masses to sleep. Making us sheep led to slaughter. Human relationships are always messy. They involve differences and conflicts and inconveniences. Even at the intimate level, but especially at the societal level. But, today, we are trained to “unfriend” everyone who makes us feel uneasy. And we call this “self care.” If we’re serious about solidarity, this attitude has to end.

The second glided age: https://www.yahoo.com/news/vintage-photos-show-gilded-age-131201284.html?guccounter=2

I enjoyed reading how they tore the houses down. Many families had little wealth left after their parents died. The houses became worthless. The shame is losing all of the beautiful craftsmanship that went into the houses. Clark founded what became Las Vegas. They threw his marble staircases into the river when they tore down his house. No gods, no masters.
