We are in the age of “confidence over competence” both in corporate and government leadership. Great essay, it really lays out well how the system works and shows that the system, capitalism, can be a confidence scam as well as individuals.

We’ve also become a people (in general) that is easily conned. Maybe that was always the case, or maybe social media has contributed immensely to this. We feed into the hype, the age of ego.

Neither Trump nor Musk have accomplished anything of substance.

I'm remembering W.C.Fields. "You can't cheat an honest man."

So, who were conned? Some simply don't care about right or wrong. They want more and think these guys will get it for them. Other gullible ones have always been part of the general population. People motivated by fear of not getting what they want or losing what they have. As long as this thinking prevails we are going to have bad government.

I don't know how to get through to them. If a person sees an individual who needs help many will help. They don't feel threatened. Those same people will believe lies that tell them they will have less and will be manipulated to vote against their own best interests. Ultimately they will be betrayed by the cons, like always.

"And they know it’s Musk at the heart of this unexpected disaster because he’s eagerly made himself the face of it all as the smell of power excites his lizard brain."

First of all, wonderful essay. I have discovered your profile today and I am already going through all your political works.

A few days ago, I watched an interview where Gautam Mukunda, from Yale School of Management, was asked whether he thinks Musk is worried about shareholders or Tesla's price going down. He answered with a no, arguing that at this point Musk is "post-economic" and a few hundred millions of loss is not going to disturb a man worth 324.3 billion USD.

Quite frankly, he has hit the nail on the head regarding Musk. That man is already the richest man in the world. His wealth will never stop existing. Market fluctuation is never going to bother him enough for it to become a problem. So what is left to acheive after that?

Influence. Power. To literally remake a country as he pleases. Government at his whim. The biggest playground for a sexist, racist, delusional and insecure sociopath.
