Thanks for this profoundly important post, Joshua.
Here's an action that I like. People can go into grocery stores and post sticky notes on products to boycott. This informs people outside of our bubbles. https://www.cjpme.org/stickies_2024_en
Civil disobedience and interruptive protest definitely help. If you can't afford the punitive possibilities of civil disobedience and you have little authoroty otherwise, then action needs to be organizing for strike/divestment activities.
Weapon Free Funds evaluates indexes to see if your investments (e.g. retirement) include weapons manufacturers. Could co-workers be organized to change the retirement portfolio of a given corporation? Might be something that quickly changes the assets these manufacturers are reporting.
I have a question, as someone living in the global south, Costa Rica to be exact, are there any articles/books you recommend to learn more about what forms of direct action I can take here? I live in a small town and I really want to know what I can do.
Agree wholeheartedly Joshua. The UK and USA are in cahoots. And fascism is now dominating the whole of the Western World.
Neither of our countries are democratic. Demos comes from the Greek, as you probably know, ‘of the people.’ No evidence of that.
The Israeli government are dictating how the government proceeds. And paying huge sums for our MPs to have all expenses paid visits to them.
Our media is not independent. All the mainstream news sources are restricted in what they can publish. Murdoch looms very large.
But those of us who are fully realised adults with the power of discrimination and rational thinking are tuned into YouTube. Where we are learning about what is actually going on. The very best investigative journalist is Owen Jones. He’s taking a lot of flack and starting to show signs of burnout. But he’s passionate about truth and honesty as are most right thinking people here.

I read that fully one third of the world's population is boycotting Israel. That's got to be having an impact.
