Do you hear the people sing?

Singing the song of angry men,

It the music of a people

who will NOT be slaves again!

When the beating of your heart

echoes the beating of the drums,

there is a war about to start

when tomorrow comes!

From a young queer leftist, it's not just time to stand up and be a "radical". It's time to bring the language and attitude of radicalism and compassion into our schools, our homes, and our workplaces. 🫂

I'm not really sure by what you mean by this - would you be open to rephrasing? /curious

I'm not sure if you meant something along the lines of "we over-rely on queer people to be radical", or "we over-emphasize queer issues", or "the Democrats relied too much on queer radicalism for their election", all of which are very important things to talk about ^v^

Okay, I gotcha now :)

I'm not a polticial scientist, so I can't say why the Harris lost. I can only speculate, but I can say that having Drag Queens in school isn't what queer radicalism is about. It's about gender affirming care, tackling systemic bigotry, fighting cis-heteronormative social structures, and a whole host of other things that the Dems don't care about. Harris is NOT supportive of us, definitely not "over reliant" on queer radicalism, especially with how with the basically only time she acknowledged us was to kick trans rights back to "between patients and doctors" (which is transmedicalism). That's not to mention how queer people are (theoretically) strapped to the Dems regardless because the Republicans suck!

Drag Queens in schools is an interesting topic I'll have to look at, though

It also reduces all the other abhorrent things that Harris stood for like fracking, harsh border policy, support of genocide, etc... And makes it entirely about drag queens. C'mon, drag queens don't represent the entire queer community, they're a loud and colorful part but what saying "drag queens in school cost us the election" amounts to is "the Dems didn't sell out gay people so they lost the election". We can have more nuance than that, right?

I think your final line is what answers it bro.

Most people don't care to understand the big paragraph about gender affirmative surgery, but they do care if they come across a meme about a public school where teachers invited a drag queen to read stories to kids.

Unfortunately that's going to be our world for some time.

Literally in the article you sent me he writes THIS: "Or take the Hamas supporters on our college campuses: You don't have to be Jewish to see how shameful this is. This is an assault, not just on Jews and Israel, but on Western civilization. Let's just call it what it is: real civilization. If the Democratic Party can't figure out that civilization needs to be defended from barbarism, what do you expect is going to happen ..."

Anyone reading down this far in the thread can see how utterly ridiculous The Rant Writer is. Pay them no mind :/ not worth our time

The fact that upwards of $3 BILLION (with a B) dollars was spent between the 2 campaigns - JUST ON CAMPAIGNING - should be criminal. There's still hurricane victims living in TENTS in 40 degree weather in North Carolina right now. Absolutely disgusting on both sides of this one.

United we stand. Divided we fall. We outnumber the ruling class by literally billions yet they're winning😢 What's truly discouraging is how many people on the "left" didn't see genocide as a red line. They had zero fucks to give about Brown people being slaughtered. If more people had been courageous and voted 3rd party this election, we maybe could have sent the duopoly a message to fuck all the way off😤

US Democrats are so stupid.

All they had to do was NOT FUND A GENOCIDE. They let everyone down - Palestinians, Americans, the world.

It’s far past time to take to the street. Have we not realized it is impossible to “vote them out”?

Since both parties have cooperated in implementing barriers to accessing the ballot by other parties and do nothing about the big dark money, they are in reality Coconspirators in a codependent duopoly worldwide crime syndicate.

The tribalists, no matter the tribe are the mark. The entire electorate is body politic ignorant AF.

It is particular juncture, we have two choices and only two choices. Either we educate ourselves about the current dynamic and act appropriately or bitch about it on Twitter and survive on our continual diet of shit sandwiches. Sadly it’s an insatiable appetite.

Both parties are gaslighting the people they pretend to represent. I recommend reading at least the first chapter or two of “The Era of Global Risk: An Introduction to Existential Risk Studies”. Also read the chapter on Ecological Breakdown and Human Extinction. For the last 70 years, our species has been a serious and growing existential threat to life on planet earth, and we are a worse existential threat with each passing year.

This ought to have been the central, grown-up conversation in the election for POTUS, but instead we were treated to an ugly grudge match between two elite parties competing to see who can most effectively get people to believe absurdities and to become more deeply complicit in the ecocidal, genocidal atrocities of Modern civilization.

The path forward for us involves absolute vulnerability and an acceptance of our own limitations.

As Bayo Akomolafe says: “the way is awkward, not forward”.

Ecocidal Empire is impervious to change. We must bear witness and speak truth to power, but mostly we are called to create sanctuaries of sanity and coherence where we can nurture life in earth.

Our work now is primarily in the cracks and crevices. We must embrace humility and poverty, and invite others into this kind of wealth. The way involves absolute vulnerability and willingness to suffer on behalf of living creatures and people we will never meet.

When we know, and do not act on that knowledge, we injure and imprison ourselves and others. When we know and we act accordingly, we liberate ourselves and others. We make a way for life here and now - knowing full well that we do not control ultimate outcomes.

I have been espousing this truth for decades. Slightly better than really really really shitty is still pretty damn shitty. Consenting to this shit show since Reagan is exactly the causation. Sadly, we are getting exactly the government we deserve. It’s gonna suck harder than the last 44 years. I’ve been threatening to expatriate permanently for two decades now. It’s far past time to follow through. My loyalties are to the ideal that is America and my people. Not to the confederacy of empty headed, mouth breathing, knuckle dragging cretinous fellow citizens.

My only regret is I did not realize sooner my misplaced efforts. Not only where they in vain, but as a whole, undeserved.
