And citizens of countries allied with the USA have to take a cold, hard look at who those governments are serving.

Our demonstrations are ignored, our standards of living are falling, war is raging -- our governments are not serving us.

We need a systems change. We should not allow our countries to support Israel's genocide of Palestine. It is immoral and illegal, and doesn't have the consent of people in these countries.

What do we need to do so that we actually have democracies that have the best interests of all of us at their hearts?

'...stranded between the most extreme elements of his Cabinet, who want the total annihilation of Gaza...'

Such extreme far right-wing elements really are the worst and must never be allowed to be a part of any government, period. We all must strongly reject such dangerous, harmful elements in our societies.

Well explained, Joshua.

Mr. Hill, your posts are among the most well reasoned, well written pieces on Substack and I am always glad to read them. This one was particularly useful, and comes at a critical moment. Thank you for your encouragement and your call for us to keep up the fight.

Biden like in Ukraine, believes in escalation forever, a goal of the Cold War when Pinochet was invented as a darling and liberation was an enemy. Dropping bombs on civilians through a censored, imbedded press is the goal. That won’t change with the present weapons industrial parties. Like Iraq the peaceniks will be ignored or copcityied out. Only Jill Stein is organized for the electoral college, covers the solution, and raises all the politics beginning with homelessness and immigration.

"What is strange is that Biden, as well as countless Democrats and Republicans, continuing to hitch their wagons to the genocidal disaster that is Israel, and Netanyahu in particular."

This is what I wonder about. What does Israel/Mossad have on Biden? And Congress members?

Oh they have plenty. And I have no doubt that if Mr. Biden were to step out of line, Mossad would and could assassinate him. Until there is a day of reckoning with Israel we are their slaves. They have infiltrated every level of our Federal government.

Mossad assassinating a US president would about as well as an CIA agent assassinating an Israeli president; diplomatically, politically, and militarily.

That is to say, not well for any involved party. Especially considering they're die-hard allies.

Don't fabricate absurd conspiracies to fit your worldview.

“U.S. intelligence reports claim that one-third of Hamas fighters have been killed since October 7th, but in the same breath claim that Hamas has managed to recruit thousands of new fighters in recent months.”

No shit Sherlock ! You destroy my home, you kill my family, you destroy everything l hold dear, you can be quite sure that l will become part of the resistance and fight you with every fibre of my being. Hamas is not an army, Hamas are not terrorists, Hamas is the logical resistance against a very dangerous psychopathic regime that seeks to annihilate the Palestinians from the face of the earth

Isn't it great to think about how Hamas had practically disarmed and was ready to dismantle itself in the name of peace in the past only for the state of Israel to open fire on peaceful protesters (including Israeli Jewish citizens) to justify maintaining it's position as a colonial military satellite?

This wasn't even that long ago either.

Israel don’t want peace, they just want to destroy Palestine and every living person in it. Then they will continue on their path of death, destruction and domination, aided and abetted by their equally evil Western allies.

What a wonderful fucking world 👎🤬

Which is why Netanyahu set up and funded Hamas. Fuck it, he probably wrote their statement about destroying all Jews everywhere - I mean if that isn’t going to bring in the gelt, what is? A cardboard ogre threatening to kill every Jew anywhere - it doesn’t get any better than that

I don’t understand why people always quote this from Assata Shakur.

Do all the people quoting this sincerely believe this? Moral suasion plays an incredibly significant role in most liberation movements. People ARE moved by morality, which is why oppressors always deny the immorality of their oppressive acts.

This is an extremely complex thing, of course. Oppressive ideologies are designed to resist persuasion. In the worst cases, oppression must be overcome at the point of a gun. But after that, much more complicated. Oppressors will often cooperate after they lose. Only the worst kinds of societies continue to depend primarily on force and coercion, whatever their attempts to liberate people. We have to depend on moral persuasion, and we can’t predict who will come to feel it.

Coercion by force is contrary to freedom anyway. It should be a last resort and always viewed with suspicion as it can put us in the fire right after the frying pan. This has been seen after various revolutions not the least of which was the French Revolution.

Some liberation is achieved primarily by force but humans are also cooperative and persuadable, even if oppressive systems are resistant to persuasion.

People quote this as if it is a truism or self-evidently true. I don’t get it. It’s not obviously true, has some dicey implications in many cases (e.g., those where there is a political system within which one can beat oppressors). Violence raises the hardest questions of all and this quote just tries to bypass them.

You can't use morality with the immoral, ethics with the unethical, or logic with the illogical. Allowing Netanyahu to speak in front of Congress is appalling to me as an American. APPALLING!
