This was fantastic! I am American but have lived outside of the US for over 10 years now. Not that rent isn't bad everywhere, but I am always shocked when talking to friends back home about how much their housing costs. It's unthinkable and totally unsustainable. Things are definitely getting worse in that regard in Berlin, but it's (at least not yet) nowhere near US levels of expense.
