Good post, I think that from the 80s until now (we could say when neoliberalism began) we became a very individualistic society. In the West we lost social capital, I noticed it a lot in how our parents got jobs, most of them in a local business or on the recommendation of a friend of their father. And this was in the entire middle class, now we have to go to a labor market where we are commodities, we have to go through 7 job interviews to see if we are worthy of an unpaid internship... I think this begins with the loss of community that you detail very well.
Beautiful, thank you. Loneliness is such a scourge these days. Community is the only way forward.
Once again, your experiences mirror my own, but you are able to articulate your thoughts in a way that I can't. Your words are very much appreciated.
It's so encouraging to me when people do things like tenant unions. What a wonderful way to try something new, you two.
